New community council needs members

Nominations are being sought for anyone wishing to stand for election to the new Douglas Water and Rigside Community Council.
The election comes after a valid petition to establish a Community Council for the area was submitted under the terms of South Lanarkshire Council’s Scheme for establishment of Community Councils
If you think you have what it takes to represent your local community then please complete this nomination form. Deadline for nominations is no later than 4pm on Monday 4 November 2024.
Any person on the Register of Electors for the Douglas Water and Rigside area of the Community Council who seeks election to their Community Council, should lodge a completed, signed nomination form which should be counter signed by a proposer and seconder, both of whom should also be on the Register of Electors for this community council area.

Completed nomination forms should be emailed, or posted to: Finance and Corporate Resources, Administration and Legal Services, Council Offices, Floor 2, Almada Street, Hamilton, ML3 0AA.
Printed nomination forms are also available from Administration and Legal Services as are the boundary map of the Douglas Water and Rigside Community Council area and the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils. You can also phone 01698 454196 to request these.
In the event of more nominations being received than vacancies available, an election will be held on or around 5 December 2024. Notification of any election will be provided in due course.
